The Calgary Flames returned goaltender Steve Guenette to the Salt Lake Golden Eagles, and he practiced with them Tuesday morning in preparation for this weekend's four-game road trip that starts Friday at Kalamazoo. Guenette, who missed four Eagle games while backing up Rick Wamsley in Calgary, said he's glad to be back where he can play regularly.

Additionally, the Flames have released Eagle defenseman Michael Dark, 25. Dark, who was obtained in a trade with St. Louis last summer, had played in 36 games with the Eagles this season, scoring three goals and 12 assists and totaling 57 penalty minutes. He played 36 games with the Peoria Rivermen and 30 with the Blues last season. Eagle Coach Paul Baxter said Dark didn't fit into the team's plans.
