Fifth- through eighth-graders will get a chance to spend one last evening in the old Provo City Library. The friends of the Provo City Library are sponsoring a "Farewell to the Old Library Read-a-thon," from 6:30 p.m. to midnight March 3 at the library on the corner of First East and Center Street.

Pledge packets are available at many local elementary schools and at junior high schools. They can also be obtained in the children's department at the city library. Children can bring their sleeping bags and pillows to enjoy a long evening of reading.Every participant will receive a "Read-a-thon" T-shirt. Door prizes will be given throughout the evening.

The pledge collection party will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 17 at the library. Additional prizes will be given at that time for the most money collected, the most pages read and the best sport.

Proceeds from the fund-raising event will be used to enhance the collection of the children's department in the new library. Contact the children's department at the Provo City Library for further information at 379-6650.
