A $25,000 check has been presented by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to help with reconstruction efforts in the wake of November's earthquake in China.

Representing the church's First Presidency, Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Council of the Twelve told Ambassador Han Xu that the donation "comes from Latter-day Saints around the world."In a letter accompanying the donation the First Presidency said, "Our sympathies reach out to the many individuals and families suffering because of the earthquake in Yunnan Province. We wish to help lighten the burden of those stricken by this tragedy."
