Senior Jerry Naulls scored 25 points to lead Southern Utah State to a 109-89 victory over Division II Sacramento State Monday night.

SUSC ended its first season as a Division I independent with a 10-18 record.The Sacramento State Hornets, 14-12, were led by Robert Martin with 33 points, including seven 3-pointers.

The Hornets jumped to a 27-20 lead on a Bruce Woodard layup and four Martin 3-pointers.

However, SUSC outscored Sacramento State 19-8 over the next seven minutes, including nine points by Kelvin Lee, who finished with 20 points.

SUSC led 51-40 at the half.

With 10:51 left in the contest, Robert Nakken hit a free throw for SUSC to cap a 16-2 run that lengthened the Thunderbird lead to 84-57.

Mike Dean hit a jumper with 6:49 left to give the Thunderbirds their biggest lead of the game, 94-63.
