Medical experts say 65 percent of all deaths and disabilities occurring before age 65 are preventable. With preventive measures 400,000 American lives could be save annually, it is estimated.
The major causes of premature death and disability in adults are heart disease, cancer, stroke and motor vehicle accidents, according to the New-Health Center. The center conducts a health status evaluation program to assess an individual's medical risk factors and offer a corrective action plan.Data on file at the center show that overweight individuals, as a group, have more motor vehicle accidents and are more likely to suffer heart attacks. Excessive stress also shows up as a major factor in road accidents, heart disease, stroke and cancer.
