An 11-year-old girl was killed and her aunt was critically wounded as gang members opened fire on a rival gang standing nearby and struck the two innocent victims, officials said Sunday.

Elsewhere during the weekend, gang attacks claimed at least four other lives and another man was killed when he was struck by a car carrying two gang members that was being chased by police, law enforcement officials said. At least six other people were wounded.The young girl, her 14-year-old sister and their 42-year-old aunt were caught in gang gunfire about 9:30 p.m. Saturday while walking home from a market in the Pico-Union District just east of downtown, Lt. Rob Watters said.
