Howard Osterlin, 47, a Logan native, died Feb. 14, 1989, when the Colorado Army National Guard helicopter he was flying in crashed in Nevada west of Indian Springs.
He was buried in Logan, with full military honors, Feb. 20.Mr. Osterlin, a chief warrant officer in the Colorado Army National Guard, was on his way to a training exercise at Nellis Air Force Base Range Complex near Las Vegas.
Mr. Osterlin served as an Army aviator both on active duty and in the National Guard for more than 24 years. He was a Vietnam combat veteran with many decorations.
He was employed for 17 years as a merchandise assistant for Sears Roebuck.
A scholarship fund has been established by the Colorado Army National Guard for his children.
