The census shows Utah's farmers and ranchers sold $618 million in agricultural products and 5,938 Utah farms had annual product sales in 1988 of $10,000 or more. The Census Bureau defines a farm as any place where $1,000 or more of agricultural products were produced and sold or normally would have been sold during the census year.Of total agricultural sales, $488 million or 79 percent came from the sale of livestock, poultry and their products and $130 million or 21 percent of sales were for crops.
