An intruder was shot and killed in a 63-year-old Ogden man's downtown apartment Thursday night.
Ogden Police Lt. Steve Turner identified the victim as Tyrone Boyer, 31, Roy. Turner said Boyer was shot three times in the chest, once in the shoulder and once in the head about 8 p.m. after an intruder broke into the home of Joseph T. Jones.Tuner said the burglar was wearing a nylon stocking over his head when he broke into Jones' apartment. Jones told police the intruder came swinging at him so he shot him with a .22 caliber handgun.
"The guy kept coming so he shot him," Turner said. Jones was questioned by police and then released. The case was turned over to the Weber County Attorney's office for further investigation.
Turner said that after the shooting, Jones walked about two blocks to the police station to report the incident. Jones told police he did not know the intruder.
Police said they went to Jones' apartment where they found Boyer on the floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No weapon was found on the victim.
