A lot of people think it's wrong to conduct experiments on aborted human fetuses.

But medical scientists have long used aborted fetuses in medical research. In fact, it was experiments on fetal tissue that led to a cure for polio. And in animal experiments and limited human studies, transplantation of fetal tissue has shown promise for treatment of such illnesses as diabetes, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and leukemia.Little wonder the Legislature tabled a bill that would have banned medical research on human fetal tissue.
