- Older folks having a hard time making their property tax payments found relief at the end of the 1989 legislative rainbow.

The Legislature approved a $1.2 million "circuit breaker" bill that will beef up state assistance to the elderly poor in the form of property tax credits. The plan will expand the eligibility of those who qualify to up to $15,000 a household, as well as increase payments up to $400 for the poorest applicants.
