An Alaskan man has been fined $10,000 in federal court in Boise for the illegal shipment of parts of a Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep.

Lee Ellenburg of Anchorage was fined $10,000 on Tuesday by U.S. Magistrate Mikel Williams for knowingly receiving, acquiring or transporting parts of a Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep.Another violation of the Lacey Act regarding the killing of a bull elk in 1983 was dropped. The maximum penalty is $10,000 or one year in jail, or both.
