Another effort in Gov. Norm Bangerter's fight against illegal drug use was approved Thursday in the House. HB152 adds a $150 fine to the penalties assessed for drug-related crimes. Juveniles will have to contribute up to 100 hours of community service to prevent their parents from paying the fine for them, according to the bill's sponsor, Rep. Byron Harward, R-Provo. The money will be used for drug-education programs in the public schools and juvenile courts.
