The Social Security Administration has given its highest award to Utah Disability Determination Services - the agency that adjudicated disability claims for the federal government.

Social Security Commissioner Dorcas R. Hardy presented the Commissioners Citation to Chuck Schmitt, director of the DDS, during a disability conference in Baltimore.The award cited the Utah agency for "outstanding performance in quality, timeliness, and cost effectiveness in adjudicating Social Security disability claims." Utah was one of only five states to receive the award.

Katherine Lund, disability examiner, was also honored for her outstanding performance, professionalism and exemplary service to the DDS.
