Rep. Howard Nielson, R-Utah, who was appointed by Gov. Norm Bangerter to the Lake Powell Region Resource Development Council, says he will introduce legislation to help the state make a land swap with the Park Service to open up new recreational facilities along the lake.

Nielson said he is pleased to be named to the council, which he hopes will bring new economic opportunities to San Juan County and other counties near Lake Powell."Thousands of acres owned by the state are unable to be developed for recreation because they are locked within the National Rec-reation Area," Nielson said.
