Salt Lake County deputy sheriffs and Utah Wildlife Division officials went on a lion hunt Sunday morning, capturing a stray cougar in Holladay and releasing the feline back into the Wasatch Mountains.

A tranquilizer injected by a wildlife official using a syringe attached to a long pole finally subdued the cat, but not until it led authorities on a chase through a residential area near 1900 E. 64th South."Close your door, there's a cougar down there," one neighbor said lawmen warned him.

The lost cougar was surrounded by officials with a large net and then driven by truck back into its home in the Wasatch Mountains where it was released, wildlife officials said.
