Police detectives believe armed robberies reported at two 7-Eleven stores in January were masterminded by a store employee who claimed to be one of the victims.

He remained jailed Friday as other charges were being processed against a second man and two male juveniles.The 20-year-old man was arrested more than three weeks after he told police he had been bound with duct tape and had his head banged against a wall by a robber at about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 23 while he was working at the 7-Eleven store at 7820 S. Seventh East.

He is charged in a 3rd Circuit Court complaint in the armed robbery of a fellow 7-Eleven clerk at the store at 10473 S. Seventh East on Jan. 21. A felony theft charge and a misdemeanor charge of giving false information to a police officer were filed in connection with the robbery reported at the store where the suspect was working.
