Utah trucking companies handling poison gas, radioactive materials subject to route restrictions, and class A and B explosives are being ordered to obtain proper insurance coverage as directed by an Interstate Commerce Commission rule.

The Utah Public Service Commission has adopted the federal rule and it is now part of Utah requirements for trucking companies operating in the state. The rule became effective Jan. 31. As written, the rule requires the companies to file a copy of their insurance coverage with the commission. Also, truck drivers carrying affected products must carry a copy of the form with them.
