Frank Johnson, a businessman and management consultant, has been appointed director of the Utah Division of Public Utilities in the wake of Ralph Creer's resignation.
David Buhler, executive director of the Department of Business Regulation, said Johnson's experience in both the private and public sectors will help him in his new job."Frank is a strong administrator and I am pleased he is willing to put his experience to work in managing the important functions of this division," Buhler said Friday.
Johnson, also a professor of marketing at the University of Utah, has owned several businesses and consulted with a number of national corporations including Sears, General Foods, Ralston Purina and Magnavox.
He served three terms in the Utah House of Representatives 1982-88. He also has served as director of the Savings and Loan Association, owner and president of Stevens-Henager College as as associate dean in the U. of U. graduate school.
