A good deed cost a Salem man his life on Sunday.

Robert F. Hall, 43, Salem, had stopped about 6:30 p.m. to help a driver who ran out of gas on I-15 near Spanish Fork. Hall was returning to his vehicle when he was struck by a car driven by an 18-year-old woman."It was a real tragic affair," said trooper Charlie Ray Wilson, Utah Highway Patrol. "He had walked three feet into the northbound roadway. The driver who struck him was driving under the speed limit and hit her brakes, but she couldn't stop."

Wilson said Hall had stopped to help motorists on many occasions. Wilson urged drivers to remember how dangerous it is to walk along the highway.
