The South Sanpete School District has decided to build two portable classroom units next summer to relieve overcrowding at two Ephraim schools.

One unit will be installed at the Ephraim Middle School and the other at the Ephraim Elementary School. Each unit will contain two 30-student classrooms. In addition to easing overcrowding at the two schools, they'll also provide space for prospective enrollment increases over the next four years, said Paul Grottfredson, district financial manager.

He said enrollments are expected to stabilize by then.

The units will be paid for out of South Sanpete District capital improvement funds.
