The Federal Highway Administration has allocated $90,000 to Utah to help support business development and training programs for minority- and women-owned highway construction firms.

Nationally the FHWA distributed more than $8 million under the program. The money went to state highway and transportation departments to help train those in disadvantaged business enterprises so they can participate more effectively in federally funded highway construction projects.

Since the program began in 1972, approximately $141 million has been disbursed in such training funds by the federal government, FHWA said.
