A Wisconsin doctor paid more than $7,000 Sunday for a shotgun and a watch that belonged to the late multimillionaire recluse Howard Hughes at the first auction of Hughes memorabilia, officials said.

Ernie Faviano, identified by auction organizers only as a doctor from Wisconsin, paid $4,250 for a gold Piaget pocket watch Hughes gave as a gift to former employee R.C. Kuldell and $3,100 for a Remington 12-gauge shotgun that belonged to the late millionaire, who died in 1976.The auction at Simpson's Antiques, described by organizers as the first of items Hughes owned, brought in $34,500 for 74 items.
