People answering nature's call were drenched and at least one person was injured by exploding toilets and spouting urinals in the King County Courthouse here Thursday afternoon.

One woman reportedly passed out from shock, and the building service manager said another person was struck in the foot by a piece of porcelain from an exploding toilet. The havoc in the 10-story building's more than 30 bathrooms occurred after workers under a downtown street mistakenly connected an air compressor to the courthouse water system.

"Eventually, the air in the water built up and the toilets started exploding when they were flushed," said Bill Kemp, building manager.
