Barbara Blumenthal's play "Boy Girl Boy Girl," 1988 winner of the Clauder competition in playwrighting, will make its world premiere in June at Trinity Repertory Company's downstairs theater.

Blumenthal, an artist in residence at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., will receive a $3,000 cash award from New Voices, a writer's theater group in Boston that sponsors the competition to encourage new plays by New England writers.

Stanley Richardson, artistic director at New Voices, calls "Boy Girl Boy Girl" a "hilarious comedy about the typical American family gone haywire."

David Wheeler and Neal Baron will direct the new work, performed by Trinity Rep company members.
