Two Cache County women will be Utah's representatives to the national Mother and Young Mother of the Year competition in Spokane, Wash., April 27. They are Joanne Todd McKenna and Diane Rich Weese.
McKenna, Utah Mother of the Year, was born in Roosevelt and attended Utah State University. She was married to Earl A. McKenna, who died when the youngest of their eight children was 6. She has reared the children and now has 17 grandchildren. She lives in Hyde Park, where she is active in church and involved in music and community work. She is adviser to the Lambda Delta Sigma Sorority at USU.Weese, Utah's Young Mother, is the wife of Mark Weese and mother of Kelli, 5; Matthew, 4; and Ryan, 8 months. The family lives in Logan. She is co-owner and director of the Teddy Bear Corner Preschool. She sings and plays piano and composes music for children. Family is a top priority, she said, and she finds pleasure in spending quality time with her children and husband.
