"The Four Diamonds" (Saturday, 9 p.m., Disney) is a mix of a sword-and-sorcery movie and "Brian's Song."
And it's based on a true story. For all that, it's an affecting human drama about a young teen, Chris Millard (Thomas Guiry) who developed a rare form of cancer some 25 years ago. In the midst of his battle with the disease, he creates a parallel world in which he casts himself as a knight of the Round Table struggling against an evil sorceress to fulfill a quest.
His doctor (Christine Lahti) and his parents (Kevin Dunn and Jayne Brook) play dual roles, as fantasy parallels reality.
But more than anything, this is the touching story of a family dealing with tragedy - and a movie that the entire family can sit down and watch together.
