Granite School District is initiating a "Passport to Work" program to create a link between area employers and high school students who are prospective employees.

The program is patterned after a successful project at West High School in Salt Lake District.Students can apply for a "passport" through their career center directors. The passport is a credential about the size of a driver's license. It contains the student's picture, name, address, Social Security number and verified information about course work, citizenship and club memberships that might be of interest to an employer.

Some local employers have agreed to copy the information in lieu of a more formal application.

Employers who wish to participate in the Granite program may call Kristine Dobson at the Granite Assessment/Placement Center, 481-7165.
