A helicopter taking model Christie Brinkley and five other skiers to the backcountry crashed on a mountainside south of here Friday. Brinkley was not hurt, but another skier was injured.

Brinkley and Sandra Carradine, ex-wife of actor Keith Carradine, were aboard but not hurt, said Michael Gardner, a spokesman for Alpine Pacific Air, the company that operates ski helicopter service.Gardner said a male skier on the helicopter was hurt, and a helicopter from Fort Carson Army Post was being sent to the area to rescue all six. High winds and the steepness of the terrain prevented commercial helicopters from reaching the downed skiers Friday afternoon, he said.

The condition of the injured skier was not immediately known.

The helicopter crashed near Ophir, about six miles south of Telluride, Gardner said. The area is at an elevation of about 12,800 feet.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
