The condition of Tracy Leonard, 3, a Payson, Utah, boy who underwent heart transplant surgery Saturday at Loma Linda University Medical Center, has been upgraded from critical to serious, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday.

Meanwhile, Kimberly Blanton, Payson, Tracy's aunt, said she talked by telephone with Tracy's father, Chad, Monday afternoon.She said the father reported that his son was doing well. He said Tracy been taken off a respirator, was conscious and had been asking for water.

"Tracy has been doing better than was expected," Blanton said.

She said a dance to raise funds for Tracy is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Bon Ton in Payson. The cost is $2 a person, and proceeds will go to the Tracy Leonard Heart Trust Fund, Blanton said.
