Two days of roof-shaking, foot-stomping jazz will mark the University of Utah's annual Invitational Jazz Festival Wednesday and Thursday at the Museum of Fine Arts. Afternoon sessions will take place from 3 to 7 p.m., with concerts each evening at 8.

Taking part in the afternoon workshops will be some of the finest high-school bands in the state. The U.'s own jazz groups will perform in the evening concerts, with guest trombonist Mark Anderson.Anderson, director of jazz studies at Fresno City College, has performed with George Shearing, Billy Eckstine and Burt Bacharach, among others. He will be heard Thursday with the 18-piece U. of U. Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dan Waldis.

Concert admission both nights is $3 ($2 students). All afternoon events are free.
