An avalanche on Spain's tallest mountain swept away six French mountain climbers and searchers recovered four of their bodies Monday, the Spanish news agency EFE reported. One team member, a woman, escaped Sunday's avalanche on Mulhacen Mountain in the Sierra Nevada range, about 234 miles south of Madrid, and notified authorities who initiated a rescue operation. The air-and-ground rescue effort was called off at 5 p.m. because of poor visibility, and it was presumed the two missing members of the team were dead, government officials in Granada said.
