A Pleasant Grove man has been bound over to 4th District Court in Provo for arraignment on felony drug charges.

Robert Dean Phelps, 49, 101 E. Seventh South, is charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, drug tax-stamp violation and possession of a firearm by a restricted person, all third-degree felonies, and theft of services, a second-degree felony.He is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 17. Phelps, whose bail has been set at $100,000, is being held in the Utah County Jail.

Following a five-week investigation, Utah County deputy sheriffs raided Phelps' home Jan. 27. Inside, officers found a major marijuana cultivation operation.

In addition to more than 300 growing marijuana plants, officers found approximately 20 pounds of dried marijuana in grocery bags in the home. The dried marijuana was worth about $40,000. Sgt. Jim Tracy, who led the investigation, estimated more than $250,000 worth of marijuana could have been produced in the home annually.
