Hollywood police officer Rich Nardello went looking for Jose Canseco on Saturday afternoon. When Nardello located the Oakland A's slugger signing autographs at an electronics store, he handed him a ticket.

A blank ticket.Canseco, 24, paused momentarily, then signed his name with the number "140" after it.

"That's how fast I was really going," he said.

Then everyone - Canseco included - broke up.

Canseco, who lives in Coral Gables, was charged with reckless driving early Friday morning after police saw his 1989 red Jaguar XJS speeding down Interstate 95 at 125 miles per hour.

Apparently, the incident didn't bother Canseco, who for two hours Saturday signed hundreds of autographs, mugged with Hollywood police officers and joked about his ticket.

One Hollywood man, Barry Hauser, 36, handed Canseco a copy of Saturday's Miami Herald story with the headline, "Highway Patrol tags out Canseco for taking 125-mph spin."

Canseco signed obligingly.

"Offended? Why should I be offended?" he said. "I've gotten tickets before."
