The Salt Lake Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is recruiting medical personnel to work in Soviet Armenia. Nurses, physiotherapists and physicians are needed to treat spinal cord injuries suffered in the earthquake that devastated the region last year.
The Red Cross team will be deployed at the end of February and will be headquartered in Yerevan. The assignment is for six months.Candidates must have experience in spinal cord injury care and rehabilitation. Physician candidates must specialize in urological or plastic surgery. Candidates must also have the ability to work with people of different social and cultural backgrounds and have sensitivity to local customs.
Travel and maintenance will be provided by the American Red Cross. In addition, a salary of $20,000 for six months will be paid to all categories of personnel.
