For the seventh consecutive year, Salt Lake International Airport set a record for the number of passengers leaving and arriving.
During 1988, 10,408,233 passengers "were processed through Salt Lake International," airport director Louis Miller said Thursday. "That represents a 2.4 percent increase compared to 1987.""The most relevant factor in the year-end statistics is that the airlines are using fewer aircraft to fly increased numbers of passengers," Miller said. "This means they are filling more planes and operating efficiently, which benefits the overall operations of the airport."
