Salt Lake police are holding a dog in connection with the burglary of a business in a west-side industrial park. Really.
Officers responded to a burglary alarm at Service G&K, 1671 S. 4370 West. When they entered the building with a company official, they found desks inside the office had been rifled and two television sets, video recorders and a video camera had been stolen, a police report said. The reporting officer, upon leaving the building, spotted a vehicle that was not there when police arrived. Its engine was running
Two officers approached the vehicle and found the only occupant to be a "husky dog or a malamute husky," the report said.
Also in the vehicle, which was later determined to have been stolen last Sunday, was all the property taken in the burglary.
The robber apparently left the scene on foot. The dog found in the vehicle at the scene of the late Thursday burglary was seized by animal control with a hold for detectives.
The report didn't say who read the dog its rights.
