NBC News correspondent Rick Davis was summoned to the Jordanian Information Ministry Saturday and ordered to leave the country, an NBC official said.

Davis, the network's Amman correspondent for the past three years, was required to turn in his media credentials and given one week to depart Jordan, said Mary Lou O'Callaghan, NBC director of news information."All I know at this point is he was called into the Ministry of Information and was told they had noticed a marked difference in his reporting," O'Callaghan said. "They seemed to be referring to some PLO stories he had done. Recently he did a story on (Jordanian) King Hussein that was on last weekend."

O'Callaghan said she believed NBC was the only network with a correspondent permanently based in an Arab nation.
