The independent panel looking into the New Year's Day collapse of the Quail Creek dike has ended three days of hearings in St. George.
The panel held closed-door sessions Wednesday, and committee chairman Robert James of Fort Worth said it will return to St. George Feb. 22 for three days of meetings. At that time the group will again tour the dam site, review test results on soil samples and hear additional testimony.
James hopes the panel will have a rough draft of its report to Gov. Norm Bangerter by the end of the three-day gathering.
The panel will meet again March 6-8 in Salt Lake City. It will review final geology test results and then, James said, "lock ourselves in a room until the final report is completed."
