Salt Lake police have identified a man whose body was found Wednesday lying in an intersection.

Vincent A. Thomas, 28, 1647 Bramton Way, was shot between 2 a.m. and 4:15 a.m. Wednesday and was later found lying near Ninth South and Pueblo Street (1440 West) by two newspaper carriers, police said.Thomas had apparently driven to the location in his vehicle, a 1985 2-door grey Buick with New York license plates. "It appears that the victim became involved in an altercation with one or more persons, which resulted in shots being fired and ultimately caused victim's death," a press release said.

Police are encouraging anyone who may have been in the area during the time of the shooting to contact homicide detectives with any information they believe might be helpful.
