Nine people will be honored on Feb. 22 George Washington's birthday at the annual "We Believe in Heroes" luncheon of the Utah Chapter Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge.

The public is invited to attend the noon luncheon at the Little America Hotel. The event recognizes people who have made a significant contribution to the community or displayed outstanding characteristics of citizenship in a free society.Those to be honored this year include Shane Wall, for the rescue of three children on Utah Lake, and Dave Conley and the late Steve Blake for the rescue of two electric shock victims. Blake was fatally burned in the latter rescue and Conley suffered serious burns.

Also to be honored are FBI agent G. Alan Jacobsen, who risked his life to rescue kidnap victim James Huntsman, and Mr. and Mrs. David L. Stott, who have helped arrange adoptive homes for many children, including those with handicaps. The Stotts have nine adopted children of their own.

Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Clarson will be recognized for demonstrating how personal handicaps can be overcome. And Lowell Bennion will be honored for his community service with the young, poor, homeless, handicapped and hungry populations of Salt Lake City.
