Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens and American History Month essay winners will be honored during the February meeting of Salt Lake Valley DAR chapter at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, in Cottonwood Presbyterian Church, 1580 Vine St.

Mrs. James Grada, program chairman, will present awards to winner Jeff Sorenson, a senior at Bingham High School, and runner-up Heather Burgon, a Hillcrest High School senior, in the DAR Good Citizen competition. Bryan Borchers, an eighth-grade student at St. Olaf's School, Bountiful, will receive the chapter's award for his American History Month essay titled, "John Paul Jones, My Favorite Patriot of the American Revolution."The aim of the national DAR Good Citizen Committee is to recognize and reward the qualities of good citizenship among senior high students. The American History Month essay contest is designed to encourage the study of American History in all grades of public, private and parochial schools.
