About 15,000 gay rights supporters marched Saturday to protest a new anti-homosexuality law that they say will allow censorship of the arts.

The demonstrators streamed through central London to a rally against the government bill, which becomes law on June 1.

Actress Maria Aitken said she supported the protest because she is worried that the law will result in censorship of works by homosexuals.

The government measure is a blanket stipulation stating that local authorities must not "intentionally promote homosexuality."
