An early morning fight at 553 E. Seventh South has left a woman dead, the apparent victim of a stabbing.

A Salt Lake City Police press release said the fight occurred during a party attended by a large number of people. Police responded to the fight report at 5:06 a.m. Sunday and found that Norma Steele, 23, had apparently been stabbed. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.A police dispatcher Monday said a woman had been booked into jail, but police said her name is being withheld pending the filing of formal charges.

The press release said the State Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
