Police sealed off the Layton Hills Mall Monday morning, searching for an armed robber that held up a financial institution in the mall area.
Police were releasing few details of the incident, saying only that the financial institution was held up midmorning and the mall was sealed off to facilitate a search. Police said there no injuries in the robbery.Police units sealed off the perimeter of the mall, searching the vehicles of customers and store employees as they left the area. Layton police said shortly before noon they were conducting a store-to-store search because they didn't know if the robber had fled the area or was hiding inside the mall.
A description of the robber as a stocky, white male with a ruddy complexion and wearing a blue nylon quilted hip-length jacket was broadcast statewide about 11:30 a.m.
