Salt Lake Golden Eagle captain Rich Chernomaz, who has a 13-game scoring streak, was named the International Hockey League's Player of the Month for January. It is the third time in the 4-month-old IHL season that an Eagle has received or shared that honor as Theoren Fleury was POM for November and Co-POM for December.

Chernomaz, 25, has taken over the club scoring leadership with 65 points. For January, he scored 22 points in 11 games. Included were six goals, 16 assists, three short-handed goals, a game-winning goal, a power-play goal and a game-winning assist. He was +12 for the month in even-strength goals for and against while he was on the ice.Chernomaz's scoring streak started Dec. 31, and in that streak he had three three-point games and five two-point games.
