More than five years after retiring and more than 11 years after an ankle fracture cut short his promising career, infielder Rennie Stennett will attempt a comeback with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Stennett, who will be 38 on April 5, agreed to terms Friday with the Pirates' Class AAA Buffalo farm club.Stennett is best known for being the only modern-era major leaguer to have seven hits in a nine-inning game, going 7-for-7 in a 22-0 Pirates' victory over the Chicago Cubs in Wrigley Field on Sept. 16, 1975.
