The Senate approved and sent to the White House Thursday a bill to provide $526.6 million for the Veterans Administration home loan guarantee program that ran out of money April 1.

The bill, approved Wednesday in the House, was passed on a voice vote after Sen. Frank Murkowski, R-Alaska, withdrew an amendment to reduce the amount by $263 million.

Since the revolving fund ran out of money, the Veterans Administration has borrowed funds from its readjustment benefits account, used to pay education benefits for veterans.
