West German authorities halted the shipment to Libya of a chemical that can be used for explosives production and as a missile propellant, a newspaper said Friday.

The revelation is the latest in a string of recent reports on the involvement of German firms in supplying nuclear and chemical technology to Libya and other developing countries.Nordsee Zeitung said the chemicals originated from the Degussa Co. of Frankfurt, which Wednesday said it exported to India 200 pounds of a metal obtained from the United States that can boost the power of nuclear warheads.
