Alex Trebek, host of the popular game show "Jeopardy!," has completed a trip to U.S. military bases across the Pacific, conducting the second overseas contestant search in the history of the program.

Trebek, his staff and the USO were to identify 10 potential contestants from thousands of applicants, said USO President Chuck Hagel. Of those finalists, at least four will appear as contestants during the 1989 broadcast season.Trebek conducted the first contestant search in 1987, in which more than 10,000 applications were filed.
